Samsung aims to make the Intelligent Eyewear “up to 5g lighter than Meta’s 51g Ray-Bans,” although the exact weight is yet to be confirmed.
Currently, Meta dominates the market for display-less AI glasses with a 96% share, according to Counterpoint Research. Meta has also recently introduced camera-less Ray-Ban Meta Audio glasses, designed for users who prefer not to wear devices that continuously record, addressing rising privacy concerns.
In light of these concerns, Samsung has incorporated privacy features into its Intelligent Eyewear. The glasses will include LEDs both inside and outside the frame to signal when recording is active. If the external indicator is blocked, recording will automatically shut off.
Korea’s Personal Information Protection Commission met with Samsung to discuss “how nearby people should be alerted when cameras or microphones are active.”
