Report: Samsung is expanding its display driver chip supplier pool – GSMArena.com news

Samsung is actively looking to expand its DDI supplier list to include GlobalFoundries (GF).

In response to these challenges, Samsung is now exploring partnerships with other manufacturers, specifically targeting GlobalFoundries (GF) for future collaborations. By integrating GF’s 22nm and 28nm manufacturing capabilities, Samsung aims to secure a more stable supply of DDIs. There is speculation that these chips could be utilized for Samsung’s entry-level Galaxy A-series phones by late 2027.

UMC refused as it was already operating at maximum production capacity.

This strategic move is part of Samsung’s broader effort to mitigate risks associated with relying on a single supplier, ensuring a more resilient production process for its mobile devices.
