“Dead by Daylight will always be gaming’s House of Horror, and horror icons will continue to have an open invitation to join (or rejoin) us in the Fog.”
For current owners, there is a silver lining: they will retain access to Chucky and his related cosmetics beyond the cutoff date. Although Chucky’s presence may dwindle in online matches, he will remain part of the game for those who have already acquired him. Behaviour reassures players that Dead by Daylight will continue to evolve, offering regular updates and new content while managing occasional changes like these.
Behaviour’s commitment to keeping the game a dynamic “House of Horror” means that franchises such as Child’s Play, Halloween, and Hellraiser can potentially return. This flexibility was demonstrated when the Stranger Things IP, initially removed in 2021, was reintroduced in 2023, along with its popular Demogorgon character.
“Our goal is always to keep licenses in our game forever. When they have to go away, it’s because – despite our best efforts – it wasn’t possible to retain them.”
As Chucky bows out, new characters continue to join the game. Art the Clown from the Terrifier series is set to appear next month, while Jason from Friday the 13th was added in June. Fans can look forward to more announcements from Behaviour, especially following their 10th Anniversary Broadcast earlier this year.
