Το Google Pixel 10 Pro δεν είναι ένα συναρπαστικό smartphone. Μοιάζει σχεδόν πανομοιότυπο με το Pixel 9 Pro, ενώ διαθέτει τις ίδιες κάμερες, μικρές αναβαθμίσεις στη μπαταρία και τη φόρτιση, και ένα νέο chipset που δεν είναι ο σωτήρας που ελπίζαμε ότι θα ήταν.

Ενώ όλα αυτά είναι τεχνικά αληθή, το ίδιο ισχύει και για το γεγονός ότι το Pixel 10 Pro είναι το νέο αγαπημένο μου Android τηλέφωνο. Αν και μπορεί να μην έχει έναν εντυπωσιακό νέο σχεδιασμό ή ρεκόρ επιδόσεων, η καθημερινή εμπειρία χρήσης του Pixel 10 Pro είναι κάτι που δεν μπορώ να χορτάσω. Είτε πρόκειται για τον συμπαγή σχεδιασμό, τη μαγνητική φόρτιση, τις ευέλικτες κάμερες ή το απαράμιλλο λογισμικό, υπάρχουν πολλά να αγαπήσει κανείς σε αυτό το τηλέφωνο.

Το Pixel 10 Pro είναι εύκολο να το απορρίψεις, αλλά είναι επίσης εύκολο να το αγαπήσεις. Και αν είστε σαν εμένα, είναι το νέο Android τηλέφωνο που πρέπει να αγοράσετε το 2025.

Όταν λέω ότι το Pixel 10 Pro μοιάζει με το Pixel 9 Pro, εννοώ ότι πραγματικά μοιάζει. Όχι μόνο η Google διατήρησε την ίδια γενική σχεδιαστική γλώσσα φέτος, αλλά οι διαστάσεις των δύο τηλεφώνων είναι επίσης ίδιες. Υπάρχουν αρκετές μικρότερες αλλαγές που κάνουν μια θήκη Pixel 9 Pro να μην ταιριάζει στο Pixel 10 Pro, αλλά αυτός είναι ουσιαστικά ο ίδιος σχεδιασμός.

Ενώ αυτό μπορεί να μην είναι ιδιαίτερα συναρπαστικό, προσωπικά δεν θα μπορούσα να είμαι πιο ευτυχισμένος. Πιστεύω ότι αυτός είναι ο καλύτερος σχεδιασμός που έχουμε δει ποτέ από την Google, οπότε το να τον έχουμε για έναν ακόμη χρόνο στο Pixel 10 Pro δεν είναι καθόλου κακό. Σημαίνει έναν ακόμη χρόνο με υπέροχα κουμπιά, ένα όμορφο ματ φινίρισμα στο πίσω μέρος και ένα κομψό, γυαλισμένο πλαίσιο. Η μονάδα αξιολόγησής μου διαθέτει το νέο χρώμα Jade αυτής της χρονιάς, το οποίο μπορεί να είναι ένας από τους αγαπημένους μου χρωματισμούς Pixel όλων των εποχών.

Εκτός από την εξαιρετική του εμφάνιση, το Pixel 10 Pro είναι επίσης εξίσου πρακτικό όπως πάντα. Η οθόνη 6,3 ιντσών έχει το ίδιο μέγεθος με το Pixel 9 Pro, και όπως και εκείνο το τηλέφωνο, το Pixel 10 Pro είναι άνετο στη χρήση με το ένα χέρι και χωράει σε μια στενή τσέπη με τρόπο που πολλά άλλα κορυφαία Android τηλέφωνα δεν μπορούν.

Επιπλέον, η ίδια η οθόνη είναι φανταστική. Το LTPO OLED πάνελ είναι πολύχρωμο και με υψηλή αντίθεση, η ανάλυση 1.280 x 2.856 είναι αρκετά ευκρινής, και ο ρυθμός ανανέωσης 120Hz λειτουργεί τέλεια. Εκτιμώ επίσης την ελαφρά αύξηση της μέγιστης φωτεινότητας φέτος (3.300 nits, από 3.000 nits), η οποία έχει ως αποτέλεσμα μηδενικά προβλήματα ορατότητας ακόμη και σε άμεσο ηλιακό φως.

Ενώ όλα αυτά είναι υπέροχα, το μεγάλο νέο στο υλικό για το Pixel 10 Pro είναι κάτι που δεν μπορείτε να δείτε: μαγνήτες!

Ολόκληρη η σειρά Pixel 10 διαθέτει μαγνήτες κάτω από τις πλάτες των τηλεφώνων, όπως έχουμε δει εδώ και χρόνια στα σύγχρονα iPhones. Οι μαγνήτες ακολουθούν το πρότυπο Qi2, πράγμα που σημαίνει ότι το Pixel 10 Pro είναι συμβατό με τους τυπικούς μαγνητικούς φορτιστές Qi2, τα νέα αξεσουάρ Pixelsnap της Google, και όλα τα υπάρχοντα αξεσουάρ MagSafe.

Ενώ θα μπορούσατε να βάλετε μια μαγνητική θήκη στο Pixel 9 Pro για να χρησιμοποιήσετε τα gadgets MagSafe με αυτό, είναι μια εντελώς διαφορετική εμπειρία να έχετε μαγνήτες ενσωματωμένους στο ίδιο το Pixel 10 Pro. Έχω χρησιμοποιήσει το τηλέφωνο με πορτοφόλια MagSafe, μπαταρίες και ασύρματες βάσεις φόρτισης κατά τη διάρκεια των δοκιμών μου, και ήταν φανταστικό. Έχει επίσης εδραιώσει γρήγορα το γεγονός ότι δεν νομίζω ότι μπορώ ποτέ να επιστρέψω σε ένα Android τηλέφωνο χωρίς μαγνητικό σχεδιασμό. Είναι πραγματικά τόσο βολικό.

Υπάρχει κάτι ακόμη που πρέπει να αναφέρω, και αυτό είναι η υποδοχή κάρτας SIM του Pixel 10 Pro — ή μάλλον, η έλλειψή της. Όπως πιθανώς έχετε ακούσει μέχρι τώρα, το Pixel 10 Pro στις Ηνωμένες Πολιτείες χρησιμοποιεί μόνο eSIM.

Είναι μια μεγάλη αλλαγή που έχει ενοχλήσει κάποιους, αλλά στις δοκιμές μου, δεν υπήρξε κανένα πρόβλημα. Μετέφερα μια eSIM από τη Visible στο Pixel 10 Pro την πρώτη μου μέρα με το τηλέφωνο, και δεν χρειάστηκε περισσότερο από 10 λεπτά για να ενεργοποιηθεί η υπηρεσία κινητής τηλεφωνίας μου — και λειτουργεί άψογα έκτοτε.

Θα ήταν ωραίο να υπήρχε η επιλογή για φυσική SIM και eSIM; Σίγουρα. Θα αντιμετωπίσουν κάποιοι προβλήματα με την eSIM του Pixel 10 Pro, ειδικά αν δεν έχουν χρησιμοποιήσει την τεχνολογία πριν; Ίσως. Η αφαίρεση των φυσικών καρτών SIM δεν κάνει απαραίτητα το Pixel 10 Pro καλύτερο από το Pixel 9 Pro, αλλά στη χρήση μου, δεν έχει κάνει το τηλέφωνο χειρότερο, επίσης.

Πριν από την κυκλοφορία του Pixel 10 Pro, υπήρχε κάτι που απασχολούσε πολλούς: το Tensor G5. Το φετινό chip Tensor είναι σημαντικό για δύο λόγους. Εκτός από το ότι είναι το πρώτο chip 3nm της Google, είναι επίσης το πρώτο chipset Tensor που κατασκευάζεται από την TSMC, αντί της Samsung Foundry.

Τα προηγούμενα chips Tensor είχαν προβλήματα με θερμικά θέματα και κακή διάρκεια ζωής της μπαταρίας, και η σκέψη ήταν ότι η μικρότερη κατασκευή του G5 και η απομάκρυνση από τη Samsung θα αντιμετώπιζαν αυτά τα ζητήματα. Υπήρχε επίσης η ελπίδα ότι η Google θα μπορούσε να αποσπάσει περισσότερη απόδοση από το Tensor G5.

Λοιπόν, έγινε κάτι από αυτά πραγματικότητα; Ναι και όχι. Για όλες τις τεχνικές λεπτομέρειες, δείτε την εις βάθος ανάλυσή μας για το Tensor G5. Εγώ θα επικεντρωθώ στην πραγματική μου εμπειρία.

Ας ξεκινήσουμε με την απόδοση. Η κανονική, καθημερινή απόδοση δεν υπήρξε ποτέ πρόβλημα για μένα με τα τηλέφωνα Pixel, και το Pixel 10 Pro δεν αποτελεί εξαίρεση. Όλες οι συνήθεις εφαρμογές μου λειτουργούν άψογα, το UI είναι ομαλό, και όλες οι νέες κινήσεις με το Material 3 Expressive φαίνονται απίστευτες. Δεν είμαι ιδιαίτερα μεγάλος παίκτης σε κινητά, αλλά το παιχνίδι που επιλέγω για να περνάω την ώρα μου (Call of Duty: Mobile) λειτουργεί άψογα με πολύ υψηλά γραφικά και ρυθμίσεις μέγιστου ρυθμού καρέ — όχι μόνο λειτουργεί ομαλά, αλλά και δροσερά.

Ωστόσο, το Tensor G5 μέσα στο Pixel 10 Pro δεν αποδίδει ιδιαίτερα καλά στα benchmarks, όπως συνέβαινε και με όλους τους προηγούμενους επεξεργαστές Tensor. Τρέχοντας το Pixel 10 Pro μέσω του Geekbench 6 για να δοκιμάσουμε την CPU του, το Tensor G5 αποδίδει καλύτερα από το Pixel 9 Pro και το Tensor G4 του, αν και εξακολουθεί να είναι σημαντικά πίσω από το Galaxy S25 Ultra με Snapdragon 8 Elite. Το ίδιο ισχύει και στα benchmarks GPU, όπου το Pixel 10 Pro υπερέχει του προκατόχου του αλλά εξακολουθεί να υστερεί σε σχέση με το Galaxy S25 Ultra.

Ενώ τα benchmarks για το Tensor G5 μπορεί να μην έχουν βελτιωθεί δραματικά, υπήρξε μια αξιοσημείωτη αναβάθμιση στη διαχείριση θερμότητας. Για πρώτη φορά με ένα τηλέφωνο Pixel εξοπλισμένο με Tensor, δεν έχω αντιμετωπίσει ανησυχητικά προβλήματα θέρμανσης με το Pixel 10 Pro.

Αυτό δεν συνέβη μόνο με την κανονική καθημερινή χρήση, αλλά και σε πιο έντονες περιπτώσεις χρήσης. Ακόμα και σε μια πολυάσχολη ημέρα ταξιδιού που με είδε να διασχίζω πολλαπλά αεροδρόμια, να βγάζω πολλές φωτογραφίες και να χρησιμοποιώ αποκλειστικά το 5G χωρίς καμία σύνδεση Wi-Fi, δεν παρατήρησα ποτέ το Pixel 10 Pro να θερμαίνεται όπως θα περίμενα από ένα παλαιότερο Pixel. Οι μόνες φορές που ένιωσα το τηλέφωνο να ζεσταίνεται ήταν κατά τη διάρκεια των benchmarks GPU και την ημέρα της αρχικής ρύθμισης — όπως συμβαίνει με κάθε Android τηλέφωνο που έχω χρησιμοποιήσει ποτέ. Αν και είναι ενοχλητικό που χρειάστηκαν πέντε γενιές Tensor για να φτάσουμε σε αυτό το σημείο, είμαι εξαιρετικά χαρούμενος που επιτέλους φτάσαμε εδώ.

Δυστυχώς, ενώ η θερμική διαχείριση είναι σημαντικά καλύτερη φέτος, το ίδιο δεν μπορεί να ειπωθεί για τη διάρκεια ζωής της μπαταρίας. Ενώ η μπαταρία των 4,870mAh είναι μια αξιοπρεπής χωρητικότητα για ένα τηλέφωνο του μεγέθους του Pixel 10 Pro, δεν έχω καταφέρει ποτέ να περάσω περισσότερο από μία ημέρα με μία μόνο φόρτιση.

Προς τιμήν του Pixel 10 Pro, δεν έχω περιορίσει τη χρήση μου με αυτό. Σε μια ημέρα που πέρασα κυρίως στο σπίτι με Wi-Fi, συγκέντρωσα 4 ώρες και 50 λεπτά χρόνου οθόνης, ξεκινώντας την ημέρα μου με 100% μπαταρία γύρω στις 7:00 πμ και τελειώνοντας στις 11:00 μμ με 15% υπόλοιπο. Την ημέρα του ταξιδιού που αναφέρθηκε παραπάνω, ξεκίνησα με 100% στις 4:00 πμ και έφτασα στο 11% στις 9:00 μμ. Αυτό έγινε με σχεδόν 3 ώρες χρόνου οθόνης, αλλά χρησιμοποιώντας το Pixel 10 Pro σχεδόν αποκλειστικά στο 5G και βγάζοντας έναν τεράστιο αριθμό φωτογραφιών.

Ποτέ δεν αμφισβήτησα την ικανότητα του Pixel 10 Pro να φτάσει στο τέλος της ημέρας με μπαταρία να περισσεύει, αλλά επίσης δεν είναι καθόλου ένα τηλέφωνο δύο ημερών όπως έχουμε δει από τηλέφωνα με Snapdragon 8 Elite όπως το Galaxy S25 Ultra και το OnePlus 13. Δεδομένου ότι το Pixel 10 Pro είναι ένα μικρότερο τηλέφωνο, περίμενα λίγο περισσότερη αντοχή από αυτό που έχω λάβει.

Ομοίως, οι ταχύτητες ενσύρματης φόρτισης δεν είναι κάτι αξιοσημείωτο. Το Pixel 10 Pro είναι πλέον ικανό για ενσύρματη φόρτιση 30W (από 27W στο Pixel 9 Pro), αλλά αυτό δεν μεταφράζεται σε ουσιαστικές βελτιώσεις ταχύτητας. Στις δοκιμές μας, το Pixel 10 Pro χρειάστηκε 86 λεπτά για να επαναφορτιστεί από περίπου 2% πίσω στο 100%, που είναι μόλις ένα λεπτό λιγότερο από το Pixel 9 Pro. Φτάνει επίσης στο 50% περίπου στον ίδιο χρόνο. Εν τω μεταξύ, το Galaxy S25 Ultra φορτίζει πλήρως σε 54 λεπτά, ενώ το OnePlus 13 εξακολουθεί να έχει ένα σαφές προβάδισμα με χρόνο επαναφόρτισης 35 λεπτών.

Φυσικά, η προσθήκη ενσωματωμένων μαγνητών στο Pixel 10 Pro σημαίνει ότι είναι άμεσα συμβατό με μαγνητικές βάσεις/υποστηρίγματα φόρτισης, και αυτό είναι μια τεράστια ευκολία. Αλλά ακόμα κι έτσι, αυτό δεν απαλλάσσει πλήρως την Google από το να καθυστερεί με την ενσύρματη φόρτιση. Υπάρχει πολύς χώρος για βελτίωση εδώ, και ελπίζω να το δούμε με το Pixel 11 Pro.

Είναι μια ενδιαφέρουσα στιγμή αυτή τη στιγμή για τις κάμερες Pixel. Δεν ήταν πολύ καιρό πριν που επαινούσαμε την Google για το ότι ήταν στην κορυφή του κόσμου της φωτογραφίας με smartphone. Αλλά τα πράγματα είναι διαφορετικά τώρα. Ενώ εξακολουθούμε να τις αξιολογούμε ως τις καλύτερες στον τομέα, μερικοί άνθρωποι είναι δυσαρεστημένοι με την επεξεργασία εικόνας της Google στα πρόσφατα Pixels, ενώ άλλοι κατηγορούν την εταιρεία ότι γεμίζει υπερβολικά τις κάμερές της με AI. Όλα αυτά έχουν κάνει τη γενική συναίνεση γύρω από τις κάμερες Pixel λίγο θολή.

Αυτό που μπορώ να πω, έχοντας περάσει μερικές εβδομάδες τραβώντας φωτογραφίες με το Pixel 10 Pro, είναι ότι πρόκειται για ένα εντυπωσιακό τηλέφωνο κάμερας.

Κοιτάζοντας το φύλλο προδιαγραφών, η διάταξη της κάμερας στο Pixel 10 Pro είναι ίδια με το Pixel 9 Pro. Η κύρια κάμερα είναι ένας αισθητήρας 50MP με διάφραγμα f/1.7 και μέγεθος αισθητήρα 1/1.31″. Συνοδεύεται από μια υπερευρυγώνια κάμερα 48MP με διάφραγμα f/1.7 και πεδίο θέασης 123 μοιρών, καθώς και μια τηλεφακό κάμερα 48MP με διάφραγμα f/2.8 και εύρος οπτικού ζουμ 5x. Στο μπροστινό μέρος υπάρχει μια selfie κάμερα 42MP με διάφραγμα f/2.2 και αυτόματη εστίαση.

Η κύρια κάμερα, είτε τη χρησιμοποιείτε για να τραβήξετε φωτογραφίες 1x είτε 2x, είναι φανταστική — και όχι μόνο για σκηνές με άφθονο φωτισμό και με ακίνητα θέματα. Ακόμα και με φωτογραφίες της μαύρης γάτας μου που κάθεται μπροστά σε ένα παράθυρο με ήλιο, της άλλης γάτας μου που είναι ανήσυχη στο αίθριο, ή ενός αμυδρά φωτισμένου μπαρ με πολλούς κινούμενους ανθρώπους, το Pixel 10 Pro δεν έχει πραγματικά πρόβλημα με κανένα από αυτά. Ανεξάρτητα από το πού πατάω το κουμπί κλείστρου, σχεδόν πάντα εγγυώμαι μια εικόνα που είναι ευκρινής, καλά φωτισμένη και αληθινή στη ζωή.

Η υπερευρυγώνια κάμερα έχει επίσης αποδώσει πολύ καλά για λήψεις 0.5x. Υπάρχει λίγο περισσότερη παραμόρφωση στις άκρες από ό,τι περίμενα, αλλά δεν αποσπά πολύ από τις φωτογραφίες. Αν μη τι άλλο, μου αρέσει κάπως το έντονο, απομακρυσμένο εφέ που προσθέτει.

Πιο σημαντικό, οι φωτογραφίες από την υπερευρυγώνια κάμερα διατηρούν ένα παρόμοιο χρωματικό προφίλ με αυτές που έχουν ληφθεί με την κύρια κάμερα, έτσι δεν υπάρχει μια αποσπαστική διαφορά όταν συγκρίνετε εικόνες δίπλα-δίπλα. Όσον αφορά τις υπερευρυγώνιες κάμερες, αυτή είναι πολύ καλή — όπως ήταν και στο Pixel 9 Pro.

Ακόμα περισσότερο από τις κύριες και τις υπερευρυγώνιες κάμερες, έχω διασκεδάσει πολύ με την τηλεφακό κάμερα του Pixel 10 Pro. Αν και ο αισθητήρας δεν έχει αλλάξει από πέρυσι, οι δυνατότητες ζουμ έχουν βελτιωθεί σημαντικά. Τώρα, αντί για μέγιστο ζουμ 30x, το Pixel 10 Pro μπορεί να φτάσει μέχρι και 100x.

Ξεκινώντας με εύρη ζουμ 5x και 10x (οι δύο προεπιλεγμένες επιλογές ζουμ στην εφαρμογή κάμερας), ο τηλεφακός αισθητήρας κάνει εξαιρετική δουλειά. Οι λήψεις 5x και 10x παρακάτω αποτύπωσαν τους Καταρράκτες του Νιαγάρα όμορφα, ειδικά λαμβάνοντας υπόψη πόσο γρήγορα κινούνταν. Και όταν βλέπετε πόσο πίσω ήμουν πραγματικά στη λήψη 1x, είναι ακόμα πιο εντυπωσιακό πόσες λεπτομέρειες μπορεί να αποτυπώσει αυτή η κάμερα από τόσο μακριά.

Μόλις προχωρήσετε σε ζουμ 30x ή παραπάνω, τότε ενεργοποιείται η λειτουργία Pro Res Zoom της Google — χρησιμοποιώντας AI για να συμπληρώσει τα κενά και να σας δώσει μια πολύ καλύτερη φωτογραφία. Και κάθε φορά που τραβάτε μια φωτογραφία που χρησιμοποιεί το Pro Res Zoom, το Pixel 10 Pro αποθηκεύει δύο αντίγραφα της εικόνας: το αρχικό και το επεξεργασμένο.

Δεν ήμουν εντελώς σίγουρος τι να περιμένω, αλλά έχω μείνει αρκετά εντυπωσιασμένος από το Pro Res Zoom, και η παραπάνω φωτογραφία της πεταλούδας είναι ένα εξαιρετικό παράδειγμα του πόσο καλά μπορεί να λειτουργήσει. Αυτή λήφθηκε σε εύρος ζουμ 50x, και η αρχική φωτογραφία είναι αρκετά άχρηστη. Το Pro Res Zoom έρχεται στη συνέχεια να καθαρίσει το φόντο, να οξύνει τις πευκοβελόνες, και να ανασυνθέσει πολλές από τις χαμένες λεπτομέρειες στα φτερά της πεταλούδας — και όλα αυτά συμβαίνουν αυτόματα και μέσα σε λίγα δευτερόλεπτα.

Ακόμα και φτάνοντας μέχρι το ζουμ 100x, το Pixel 10 Pro εξακολουθεί να κρατά τη θέση του. Σε αυτό το παράδειγμα του κτιρίου M&T στο Buffalo, το Pro Res Zoom κάνει εξαιρετική δουλειά στο να οξύνει τα γράμματα και τις γραμμές στο κτίριο. Υπάρχει κάποια παραμόρφωση με τον μεταλλικό πύργο στην άνω δεξιά γωνία, αλλά περίμενα κάτι πολύ χειρότερο για μια φωτογραφία 100x.

Υπάρχει μια συζήτηση σχετικά με το αν οι φωτογραφίες Pro Res Zoom με τη βοήθεια AI είναι ακόμα πραγματικές φωτογραφίες; Σίγουρα. Αλλά τουλάχιστον από τη δική μου οπτική γωνία, δεν με νοιάζει πραγματικά αυτή η συζήτηση. Το μόνο που με ενδιαφέρει είναι να έχω εργαλεία που μπορούν να κάνουν τις φωτογραφίες του smartphone μου να φαίνονται καλύτερες, και το Pro Res Zoom το επιτυγχάνει απόλυτα. Αμφιβάλλω ότι θα τραβήξω πολλές φωτογραφίες 100x αφού δημοσιευτεί αυτή η κριτική, αλλά το να έχω την ευελιξία να τραβήξω χρήσιμες φωτογραφίες 30x ή 50x είναι μια τεράστια ποσότητα ευελιξίας, και είναι μια μεγάλη νίκη για την κάμερα του Pixel 10 Pro.

Τέλος, μια γρήγορη λέξη για τη selfie κάμερα. Είναι καλή! Όπως και στο Pixel 9 Pro, έχετε δύο προεπιλεγμένα εύρη (0.7x και 1x) και αυτόματη εστίαση. Η προεπισκόπηση στο σκόπευτρο φαίνεται παράξενα χαμηλής ποιότητας (πολύ περισσότερο από τις πίσω κάμερες), αλλά μόλις τραβήξετε μια φωτογραφία και γίνει η επεξεργασία της Google, οι φωτογραφίες έχουν καλά χρώματα και λεπτομέρειες. Δεν υπάρχουν παράπονα εδώ.

Περισσότερο από οτιδήποτε άλλο, αυτό που αγαπώ στη λήψη φωτογραφιών με το Pixel 10 Pro είναι πόσο αξιόπιστο είναι. Η κύρια κάμερα είναι εξαιρετική, η υπερευρυγώνια κάμερα είναι ακριβής, και η τηλεφακός κάμερα προσθέτει τεράστια ευελιξία. Επιπλέον, υπάρχει μια συνεπής εμφάνιση και αίσθηση σε όλους αυτούς τους αισθητήρες.

Η επιστήμη των χρωμάτων του Pixel 10 Pro εξακολουθεί να προτιμά πιο φυσικά χρώματα αντί για πολύ αντίθεση, αλλά νομίζω ότι η Google βρήκε μια καλή ισορροπία φέτος. The LTPO OLED panel is colorful and contrasty, the 1,280 x 2,856 resolution is plenty sharp, and the 120Hz refresh rate runs perfectly. In addition to its great looks, the Pixel 10 Pro is just as practical as ever.While all of that is great, the big hardware news for the Pixel 10 Pro is something you can’t see: magnets!The entire Pixel 10 series features magnets under the backs of the phones, just like we’ve seen for years on modern iPhones. It’s also quickly solidified the fact that I don’t think I can ever go back to an Android phone without a magnetic design. It really is that convenient.There’s one more thing I should mention, and that’s the Pixel 10 Pro’s SIM card slot — or rather, the lack thereof. Sure. Will some people run into issues with the Pixel 10 Pro’s eSIM, especially if they haven’t used the tech before? Maybe. Was the Tensor G5 chip worth the wait?Robert Triggs / Android AuthorityLeading up to the Pixel 10 Pro’s release, there was one thing on a lot of people’s minds: Tensor G5. This year’s Tensor chip is significant for two reasons. In addition to being Google’s first 3nm chip, it’s also the first Tensor chipset manufactured by TSMC, rather than Samsung Foundry.Previous Tensor chips have long struggled with thermal issues and poor battery life, and the thought was that the G5’s smaller fabrication and departure from Samsung would address these things. There was also a hope that Google would be able to squeeze more performance out of the Tensor G5.So, did any of this come true? Yes and no. For all the technical details, check out our deep dive into the Tensor G5; I’ll focus on my actual experience.Let’s start with performance. Normal, everyday performance has never been an issue for me with Pixel phones, and the Pixel 10 Pro is no different. All of my usual apps run flawlessly, the UI is smooth, and all of the new animations with Material 3 Expressive look incredible. I’m not a particularly big mobile gamer, but my go-to time-killer (Call of Duty: Mobile) has run just fine with Very High graphics and Max frame rate settings — not only running smoothly, but cool, too. However, the Tensor G5 inside the Pixel 10 Pro still doesn’t perform particularly well in benchmarks, just as has been the case for all other Tensor chips before it. Running the Pixel 10 Pro through Geekbench 6 to test its CPU, the Tensor G5 does perform better than the Pixel 9 Pro and its Tensor G4, though it’s still considerably behind the Snapdragon 8 Elite-equipped Galaxy S25 Ultra. The same is true in GPU benchmarks, where the Pixel 10 Pro outperforms its predecessor but still trails behind the Galaxy S25 Ultra.While benchmarks for the Tensor G5 may not be dramatically improved, there has been a notable upgrade in thermal management. For the first time with a Tensor-equipped Pixel phone, I’ve not experienced any concerning heating issues with the Pixel 10 Pro. I never noticed the Pixel 10 Pro heating up the way I would expect an older Pixel to.This hasn’t just been with normal daily use, but also under more intense use cases. Even on a busy travel day that saw me trekking across multiple airports, taking a ton of pictures, and exclusively using 5G without any Wi-Fi connection, I never noticed the Pixel 10 Pro heating up the way I would expect an older Pixel to. The only times I’ve felt the phone get hot are during GPU benchmarks and on my initial setup day — as is the case for every single Android phone I’ve ever used. While it’s annoying that it took five Tensor generations to reach this point, I’m beyond happy that we’re finally here.Joe Maring / Android AuthorityUnfortunately, while thermals are substantially better this year, the same can’t be said of battery life. While the 4,870mAh battery is a decent capacity for a phone of the Pixel 10 Pro’s size, I’ve never been able to go more than one day on a single charge.To the Pixel 10 Pro’s credit, I haven’t babied my usage with it. On a day spent mostly at home on Wi-Fi, I racked up 4 hours and 50 minutes of screen-on time, starting my day with 100% battery at around 7:00 am and ending at 11:00 pm with 15% remaining. On that travel day mentioned above, I went from 100% at 4:00 am and hit 11% at 9:00 pm. This was with just shy of 3 hours of screen time, but using the Pixel 10 Pro almost exclusively on 5G and taking a metric ton of photos.I’ve never questioned the Pixel 10 Pro’s ability to reach the end of a day with battery to spare, but it’s also very much not a two-day handset the way we’ve seen from Snapdragon 8 Elite phones like the Galaxy S25 Ultra and OnePlus 13. Granted, the Pixel 10 Pro is a smaller phone, but I was still hoping for a bit more endurance than what I’ve been getting.Joe Maring / Android AuthoritySimilarly, wired charging speeds aren’t anything to write home about either. The Pixel 10 Pro is now capable of 30W wired charging (up from 27W on the Pixel 9 Pro), but that doesn’t translate to any meaningful speed enhancements. In our testing, the Pixel 10 Pro took 86 minutes to recharge from about 2% back up to 100%, which is just a minute less than the Pixel 9 Pro. It also reaches the 50% mark in roughly the same amount of time. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S25 Ultra gets a full charge in 54 minutes, while the OnePlus 13 still holds a commanding lead with a 35-minute recharge time.Of course, the addition of built-in magnets in the Pixel 10 Pro means it’s immediately compatible with magnetic charging pads/stands, and that is a huge convenience. But even so, that doesn’t fully excuse Google from dragging its feet with wired charging. There’s a lot of room to improve here, and I hope we see it with the Pixel 11 Pro. Familiar but fantastic camerasJoe Maring / Android AuthorityIt’s an interesting time right now for Pixel cameras. It wasn’t that long ago that we were praising Google for being at the top of the smartphone photography world. But things are different now. While we still rate them as the best in the business, some people are unhappy with Google’s image processing on recent Pixels, while others are blasting the company for cramming too much AI into its cameras. It’s all made the general consensus around Pixel cameras a bit muddy.That all said, having spent a couple of weeks taking pictures with the Pixel 10 Pro, all I know is that this is an impressive camera phone. Looking at the spec sheet, the camera setup on the Pixel 10 Pro is identical to the Pixel 9 Pro. The primary camera is a 50MP sensor with an f/1.7 aperture and a 1/1.31″ sensor size. It’s joined by a 48MP ultrawide camera with an f/1.7 aperture and a 123-degree field-of-view, along with a 48MP telephoto camera that has an f/2.8 aperture and a 5x optical zoom range. On the front is a 42MP selfie camera with an f/2.2 aperture and autofocus. The primary camera, whether you’re using it to capture 1x or 2x photos, is fantastic — and not just for scenes with ample lighting and with still subjects. Even with photos of my black cat sitting in front of a sunlit window, my other cat being fidgety on the patio, or of a dimly-lit bar with lots of moving people, the Pixel 10 Pro doesn’t really have an issue with any of it. Regardless of where I’m pressing the shutter button, I’m almost always guaranteed a picture that’s sharp, well-lit, and true-to-life. The ultrawide camera has also performed really well for 0.5x shots. There’s a bit more warping at the edges than I had expected, but it doesn’t distract too much from the photos. If anything, I kind of like the intense, zoomed-out effect it adds.More importantly, photos from the ultrawide camera retain a similar color profile to those taken with the primary camera, so there’s not a distracting difference when comparing images side-by-side. As far as ultrawide cameras go, this is a very good one — just like it was on the Pixel 9 Pro. Even more so than the primary and ultrawide cameras, I’ve been having a blast with the Pixel 10 Pro’s telephoto camera. Although the sensor is unchanged from last year, the zooming capabilities are greatly improved. Now, instead of a 30x maximum zoom, the Pixel 10 Pro can go all the way up to 100x.Starting with 5x and 10x zoom ranges (the two preset zoom options in the camera app), the telephoto sensor does a remarkable job. The 5x and 10x shots below captured the Niagara Falls beautifully, especially considering just how fast they were moving. And when you see how far back I actually was in the 1x shot, it’s all the more impressive how much detail this camera can capture from so far away. Once you punch in to 30x or above, that’s when Google’s Pro Res Zoom mode activates — using AI to fill in the gaps and give you a much better-looking photo. And any time you take a picture that uses Pro Res Zoom, the Pixel 10 Pro saves two copies of the image: the original and the edited one. I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect, but I’ve come away rather impressed by Pro Res Zoom, and the above photo of the butterfly is an excellent example of how well it can work. This was taken at a 50x zoom range, and the original photo is pretty unusable. In this example of the M&T building in Buffalo, Pro Res Zoom does a great job of sharpening the letters and the lines in the building. There’s some funkiness with the metal tower in the upper-right corner, but I was expecting a lot worse for a 100x photo.Is there a conversation to be had about whether or not AI-assisted Pro Res Zoom pictures are still real photographs? Sure. But at least from my perspective, I don’t really care about that conversation. All I care about is having tools that can make my smartphone pictures look better, and Pro Res Zoom absolutely achieves that. However, that’s mainly due to exisitng Pixel features, rather than any of the new ones added this year.The best new thing about the Pixel 10 Pro’s software is that it ships with Android 16 QPR1. This is the version of Android 16 that’s been redesigned with Material 3 Expressive, and it feels phenomenal on Google’s latest Pixel. The redesigned Quick Settings panel is outstanding, the big buttons/toggles across the interface look great, and animations and haptic feedback have never been better. I’ve been a fan of this software since Android 16 QPR1 Beta 1, and it absolutely shines on the Pixel 10 Pro. The Pixel 10 Pro does introduce some features we didn’t see in those earlier betas, and some of them are really cool. Screen Saver, for example, turns the Pixel 10 Pro into a miniature smart display when it’s charging, and it’s been such a fun new addition. I also love the new Take a Message feature in the Phone app, which shows voicemail transcripts on the Home page and makes managing missed calls so much easier.Unfortunately, I don’t feel nearly as positive about this year’s biggest new Pixel feature: Magic Cue. Magic Cue is supposed to proactively show you information when it thinks you need it. For example, if someone texts you asking if you have the address for dinner tonight, Magic Cue can find that information in your calendar, email, or other text messages and automatically surface it for you. I also tried getting Magic Cue to appear during phone calls, but those efforts were equally disappointing. While calling Delta’s customer support number, Magic Cue once showed flight confirmation details for a flight I had just completed a couple of days previously, despite me having another upcoming flight in November. When I tried calling Delta a few days later, Magic Cue simply didn’t show anything.I’ve been similarly let down by Daily Hub. Daily Hub is accessible at the top of your Google Discover page, and it’s also supposed to show relevant info throughout the day as you need it. You would think showing me videos from channels I’m subscribed to would be more helpful, but apparently not. The upside is that Google's foundation for Pixel software is still incredibly strong, so a couple of misses don't derail things too much.It’s likely that Magic Cue and Daily Hub will get better as time goes on, and I certainly hope they do. In addition to being Google’s first 3nm chip, it’s also the first Tensor chipset manufactured by TSMC, rather than Samsung Foundry.Previous Tensor chips have long struggled with thermal issues and poor battery life, and the thought was that the G5’s smaller fabrication and departure from Samsung would address these things. There was also a hope that Google would be able to squeeze more performance out of the Tensor G5.So, did any of this come true? Yes and no. Normal, everyday performance has never been an issue for me with Pixel phones, and the Pixel 10 Pro is no different. All of my usual apps run flawlessly, the UI is smooth, and all of the new animations with Material 3 Expressive look incredible. I’m not a particularly big mobile gamer, but my go-to time-killer (Call of Duty: Mobile) has run just fine with Very High graphics and Max frame rate settings — not only running smoothly, but cool, too. However, the Tensor G5 inside the Pixel 10 Pro still doesn’t perform particularly well in benchmarks, just as has been the case for all other Tensor chips before it. Running the Pixel 10 Pro through Geekbench 6 to test its CPU, the Tensor G5 does perform better than the Pixel 9 Pro and its Tensor G4, though it’s still considerably behind the Snapdragon 8 Elite-equipped Galaxy S25 Ultra. The same is true in GPU benchmarks, where the Pixel 10 Pro outperforms its predecessor but still trails behind the Galaxy S25 Ultra.While benchmarks for the Tensor G5 may not be dramatically improved, there has been a notable upgrade in thermal management. For the first time with a Tensor-equipped Pixel phone, I’ve not experienced any concerning heating issues with the Pixel 10 Pro. I never noticed the Pixel 10 Pro heating up the way I would expect an older Pixel to.This hasn’t just been with normal daily use, but also under more intense use cases. Even on a busy travel day that saw me trekking across multiple airports, taking a ton of pictures, and exclusively using 5G without any Wi-Fi connection, I never noticed the Pixel 10 Pro heating up the way I would expect an older Pixel to. The only times I’ve felt the phone get hot are during GPU benchmarks and on my initial setup day — as is the case for every single Android phone I’ve ever used. On a day spent mostly at home on Wi-Fi, I racked up 4 hours and 50 minutes of screen-on time, starting my day with 100% battery at around 7:00 am and ending at 11:00 pm with 15% remaining. On that travel day mentioned above, I went from 100% at 4:00 am and hit 11% at 9:00 pm. This was with just shy of 3 hours of screen time, but using the Pixel 10 Pro almost exclusively on 5G and taking a metric ton of photos.I’ve never questioned the Pixel 10 Pro’s ability to reach the end of a day with battery to spare, but it’s also very much not a two-day handset the way we’ve seen from Snapdragon 8 Elite phones like the Galaxy S25 Ultra and OnePlus 13. Granted, the Pixel 10 Pro is a smaller phone, but I was still hoping for a bit more endurance than what I’ve been getting.Joe Maring / Android AuthoritySimilarly, wired charging speeds aren’t anything to write home about either. The Pixel 10 Pro is now capable of 30W wired charging (up from 27W on the Pixel 9 Pro), but that doesn’t translate to any meaningful speed enhancements. In our testing, the Pixel 10 Pro took 86 minutes to recharge from about 2% back up to 100%, which is just a minute less than the Pixel 9 Pro. It also reaches the 50% mark in roughly the same amount of time. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S25 Ultra gets a full charge in 54 minutes, while the OnePlus 13 still holds a commanding lead with a 35-minute recharge time.Of course, the addition of built-in magnets in the Pixel 10 Pro means it’s immediately compatible with magnetic charging pads/stands, and that is a huge convenience. But even so, that doesn’t fully excuse Google from dragging its feet with wired charging. There’s a lot of room to improve here, and I hope we see it with the Pixel 11 Pro. Familiar but fantastic camerasJoe Maring / Android AuthorityIt’s an interesting time right now for Pixel cameras. It wasn’t that long ago that we were praising Google for being at the top of the smartphone photography world. But things are different now. While we still rate them as the best in the business, some people are unhappy with Google’s image processing on recent Pixels, while others are blasting the company for cramming too much AI into its cameras. It’s all made the general consensus around Pixel cameras a bit muddy.That all said, having spent a couple of weeks taking pictures with the Pixel 10 Pro, all I know is that this is an impressive camera phone. Looking at the spec sheet, the camera setup on the Pixel 10 Pro is identical to the Pixel 9 Pro. The primary camera is a 50MP sensor with an f/1.7 aperture and a 1/1.31″ sensor size. It’s joined by a 48MP ultrawide camera with an f/1.7 aperture and a 123-degree field-of-view, along with a 48MP telephoto camera that has an f/2.8 aperture and a 5x optical zoom range. On the front is a 42MP selfie camera with an f/2.2 aperture and autofocus. The primary camera, whether you’re using it to capture 1x or 2x photos, is fantastic — and not just for scenes with ample lighting and with still subjects. Even with photos of my black cat sitting in front of a sunlit window, my other cat being fidgety on the patio, or of a dimly-lit bar with lots of moving people, the Pixel 10 Pro doesn’t really have an issue with any of it. Regardless of where I’m pressing the shutter button, I’m almost always guaranteed a picture that’s sharp, well-lit, and true-to-life. The ultrawide camera has also performed really well for 0.5x shots. There’s a bit more warping at the edges than I had expected, but it doesn’t distract too much from the photos. If anything, I kind of like the intense, zoomed-out effect it adds.More importantly, photos from the ultrawide camera retain a similar color profile to those taken with the primary camera, so there’s not a distracting difference when comparing images side-by-side. As far as ultrawide cameras go, this is a very good one — just like it was on the Pixel 9 Pro. Even more so than the primary and ultrawide cameras, I’ve been having a blast with the Pixel 10 Pro’s telephoto camera. Although the sensor is unchanged from last year, the zooming capabilities are greatly improved. Now, instead of a 30x maximum zoom, the Pixel 10 Pro can go all the way up to 100x.Starting with 5x and 10x zoom ranges (the two preset zoom options in the camera app), the telephoto sensor does a remarkable job. The 5x and 10x shots below captured the Niagara Falls beautifully, especially considering just how fast they were moving. And when you see how far back I actually was in the 1x shot, it’s all the more impressive how much detail this camera can capture from so far away. Once you punch in to 30x or above, that’s when Google’s Pro Res Zoom mode activates — using AI to fill in the gaps and give you a much better-looking photo. And any time you take a picture that uses Pro Res Zoom, the Pixel 10 Pro saves two copies of the image: the original and the edited one. I also tried getting Magic Cue to appear during phone calls, but those efforts were equally disappointing. While calling Delta’s customer support number, Magic Cue once showed flight confirmation details for a flight I had just completed a couple of days previously, despite me having another upcoming flight in November. When I tried calling Delta a few days later, Magic Cue simply didn’t show anything.I’ve been similarly let down by Daily Hub. Daily Hub is accessible at the top of your Google Discover page, and it’s also supposed to show relevant info throughout the day as you need it. That’s fine, but it would have been infinitely more helpful to have seen the confirmation email with my tickets for said concert. Similarly, on a day I was traveling, Daily Hub showed calendar events I made for my upcoming flights, but not the boarding passes I had added to Google Wallet.Meanwhile, other content presented in Daily Hub — such as podcast/YouTube recommendations and Gemini-powered “topics of interest” — range from mediocre to laughably bad. As I write this review, I have a YouTube recommendation for a video titled “Nice girl in new style || Arabic Song || Music || Wonderful Style.” It’s entirely AI-generated and has gotten four views in the last two hours. You would think showing me videos from channels I’m subscribed to would be more helpful, but apparently not. The upside is that Google's foundation for Pixel software is still incredibly strong, so a couple of misses don't derail things too much.It’s likely that Magic Cue and Daily Hub will get better as time goes on, and I certainly hope they do. However, both features feel so clearly unfinished, to the point where I wish Google had delayed their release and introduced them a few months later in a better state. Because right now, the first impression they give isn’t encouraging.The upside is that Google’s foundation for Pixel software is still incredibly strong, so a couple of misses don’t derail things too much. Now Playing, Direct My Call, Pixel Screenshots, Quick Tap, and other Pixel-exclusive features are all still here, and they’re just as good as ever on the Pixel 10 Pro. Its design is compact and comfortable, its screen looks incredible, and its cameras are seriously powerful. The new built-in magnets are hugely convenient, and Google's Pixel software is better than ever. The Pixel 10 Pro may not be the best choice for hardcore gamers or serious power users, but for basically everyone else, it's one of the best Android experiences around.The Google Pixel 10 Pro is not an exciting smartphone. It looks virtually identical to the Pixel 9 Pro while featuring the same cameras, minor upgrades to the battery and charging, and a new chipset that’s not the savior we had hoped it might be.While all of that is technically true, so is the fact that the Pixel 10 Pro is my new favorite Android phone. While it may not have a flashy new design or record-setting benchmarks, the day-to-day experience of using the Pixel 10 Pro is one that I can’t get enough of. Whether it’s the compact design, magnetic charging, versatile cameras, or unmatched software, there’s so much to like about this phone.The Pixel 10 Pro is easy to dismiss, but it’s also easy to love. And if you’re like me, it’s the new Android phone to buy in 2025. The tiny Pixel you love, now with magnetsJoe Maring / Android AuthorityWhen I say the Pixel 10 Pro looks like the Pixel 9 Pro, I mean it really looks like it. Not only did Google keep the same general design language this year, but the two phones’ dimensions are identical, too. There are enough smaller tweaks that a Pixel 9 Pro case won’t fit the Pixel 10 Pro, but this is basically the same design.While that may not be particularly exciting, I personally couldn’t be happier. I think this is the best design we’ve ever seen from Google, so having it for another year on the Pixel 10 Pro isn’t a bad thing at all. It means another year of wonderfully clicky buttons, a lovely matte finish on the back, and a sleek, polished frame. My review unit features this year’s new Jade color, which may be a contender for one of my favorite Pixel colors of all time.Joe Maring / Android AuthorityIn addition to its great looks, the Pixel 10 Pro is also just as practical as ever. The 6.3-inch display is the same size as the Pixel 9 Pro, and just like that phone, the Pixel 10 Pro is comfortable to use one-handed and slip in a tight pocket in a way that so many other flagship Android phones are not.Furthermore, the screen itself is fantastic. The LTPO OLED panel is colorful and contrasty, the 1,280 x 2,856 resolution is plenty sharp, and the 120Hz refresh rate runs perfectly. I also appreciate the slight increase in peak brightness this year (3,300 nits, up from 3,000 nits), which has resulted in zero visibility issues even in direct sunlight. In addition to its great looks, the Pixel 10 Pro is just as practical as ever.While all of that is great, the big hardware news for the Pixel 10 Pro is something you can’t see: magnets!The entire Pixel 10 series features magnets under the backs of the phones, just like we’ve seen for years on modern iPhones. The magnets follow the Qi2 standard, meaning the Pixel 10 Pro is compatible with standard Qi2 magnetic chargers, Google’s new Pixelsnap accessories, and all existing MagSafe accessories, too.Joe Maring / Android AuthorityWhile you could put a magnetic case on the Pixel 9 Pro to use MagSafe gadgets with it, it’s a completely different experience having magnets built into the Pixel 10 Pro itself. I’ve been using the phone with MagSafe wallets, battery packs, and wireless charging stands throughout my testing, and it’s been fantastic. It’s also quickly solidified the fact that I don’t think I can ever go back to an Android phone without a magnetic design. It really is that convenient.There’s one more thing I should mention, and that’s the Pixel 10 Pro’s SIM card slot — or rather, the lack thereof. As you’ve probably heard by now, the Pixel 10 Pro in the United States uses eSIM only.Joe Maring / Android AuthorityIt’s a big change that has upset some people, but in my testing, it’s been a total non-issue. I transferred a Visible eSIM to the Pixel 10 Pro on my first day with the phone, and it took no more than 10 minutes for my cell service to be active — and it’s worked flawlessly ever since.Would the option for a physical SIM and eSIM have been nice? Sure. Will some people run into issues with the Pixel 10 Pro’s eSIM, especially if they haven’t used the tech before? Maybe. Taking away physical SIM cards doesn’t necessarily make the Pixel 10 Pro better than the Pixel 9 Pro, but in my use, it hasn’t made the phone worse, either. Was the Tensor G5 chip worth the wait?Robert Triggs / Android AuthorityLeading up to the Pixel 10 Pro’s release, there was one thing on a lot of people’s minds: Tensor G5. This year’s Tensor chip is significant for two reasons. In addition to being Google’s first 3nm chip, it’s also the first Tensor chipset manufactured by TSMC, rather than Samsung Foundry.Previous Tensor chips have long struggled with thermal issues and poor battery life, and the thought was that the G5’s smaller fabrication and departure from Samsung would address these things. There was also a hope that Google would be able to squeeze more performance out of the Tensor G5.So, did any of this come true? Yes and no. For all the technical details, check out our deep dive into the Tensor G5; I’ll focus on my actual experience.Let’s start with performance. Normal, everyday performance has never been an issue for me with Pixel phones, and the Pixel 10 Pro is no different. All of my usual apps run flawlessly, the UI is smooth, and all of the new animations with Material 3 Expressive look incredible. I’m not a particularly big mobile gamer, but my go-to time-killer (Call of Duty: Mobile) has run just fine with Very High graphics and Max frame rate settings — not only running smoothly, but cool, too. However, the Tensor G5 inside the Pixel 10 Pro still doesn’t perform particularly well in benchmarks, just as has been the case for all other Tensor chips before it. Running the Pixel 10 Pro through Geekbench 6 to test its CPU, the Tensor G5 does perform better than the Pixel 9 Pro and its Tensor G4, though it’s still considerably behind the Snapdragon 8 Elite-equipped Galaxy S25 Ultra. The same is true in GPU benchmarks, where the Pixel 10 Pro outperforms its predecessor but still trails behind the Galaxy S25 Ultra.While benchmarks for the Tensor G5 may not be dramatically improved, there has been a notable upgrade in thermal management. For the first time with a Tensor-equipped Pixel phone, I’ve not experienced any concerning heating issues with the Pixel 10 Pro. I never noticed the Pixel 10 Pro heating up the way I would expect an older Pixel to.This hasn’t just been with normal daily use, but also under more intense use cases. Even on a busy travel day that saw me trekking across multiple airports, taking a ton of pictures, and exclusively using 5G without any Wi-Fi connection, I never noticed the Pixel 10 Pro heating up the way I would expect an older Pixel to. The only times I’ve felt the phone get hot are during GPU benchmarks and on my initial setup day — as is the case for every single Android phone I’ve ever used. While it’s annoying that it took five Tensor generations to reach this point, I’m beyond happy that we’re finally here.Joe Maring / Android AuthorityUnfortunately, while thermals are substantially better this year, the same can’t be said of battery life. While the 4,870mAh battery is a decent capacity for a phone of the Pixel 10 Pro’s size, I’ve never been able to go more than one day on a single charge.To the Pixel 10 Pro’s credit, I haven’t babied my usage with it. On a day spent mostly at home on Wi-Fi, I racked up 4 hours and 50 minutes of screen-on time, starting my day with 100% battery at around 7:00 am and ending at 11:00 pm with 15% remaining. On that travel day mentioned above, I went from 100% at 4:00 am and hit 11% at 9:00 pm. This was with just shy of 3 hours of screen time, but using the Pixel 10 Pro almost exclusively on 5G and taking a metric ton of photos.I’ve never questioned the Pixel 10 Pro’s ability to reach the end of a day with battery to spare, but it’s also very much not a two-day handset the way we’ve seen from Snapdragon 8 Elite phones like the Galaxy S25 Ultra and OnePlus 13. Granted, the Pixel 10 Pro is a smaller phone, but I was still hoping for a bit more endurance than what I’ve been getting.Joe Maring / Android AuthoritySimilarly, wired charging speeds aren’t anything to write home about either. The Pixel 10 Pro is now capable of 30W wired charging (up from 27W on the Pixel 9 Pro), but that doesn’t translate to any meaningful speed enhancements. In our testing, the Pixel 10 Pro took 86 minutes to recharge from about 2% back up to 100%, which is just a minute less than the Pixel 9 Pro. It also reaches the 50% mark in roughly the same amount of time. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S25 Ultra gets a full charge in 54 minutes, while the OnePlus 13 still holds a commanding lead with a 35-minute recharge time.Of course, the addition of built-in magnets in the Pixel 10 Pro means it’s immediately compatible with magnetic charging pads/stands, and that is a huge convenience. But even so, that doesn’t fully excuse Google from dragging its feet with wired charging. There’s a lot of room to improve here, and I hope we see it with the Pixel 11 Pro. Familiar but fantastic camerasJoe Maring / Android AuthorityIt’s an interesting time right now for Pixel cameras. It wasn’t that long ago that we were praising Google for being at the top of the smartphone photography world. But things are different now. While we still rate them as the best in the business, some people are unhappy with Google’s image processing on recent Pixels, while others are blasting the company for cramming too much AI into its cameras. It’s all made the general consensus around Pixel cameras a bit muddy.That all said, having spent a couple of weeks taking pictures with the Pixel 10 Pro, all I know is that this is an impressive camera phone. Looking at the spec sheet, the camera setup on the Pixel 10 Pro is identical to the Pixel 9 Pro. The primary camera is a 50MP sensor with an f/1.7 aperture and a 1/1.31″ sensor size. It’s joined by a 48MP ultrawide camera with an f/1.7 aperture and a 123-degree field-of-view, along with a 48MP telephoto camera that has an f/2.8 aperture and a 5x optical zoom range. On the front is a 42MP selfie camera with an f/2.2 aperture and autofocus. The primary camera, whether you’re using it to capture 1x or 2x photos, is fantastic — and not just for scenes with ample lighting and with still subjects. Even with photos of my black cat sitting in front of a sunlit window, my other cat being fidgety on the patio, or of a dimly-lit bar with lots of moving people, the Pixel 10 Pro doesn’t really have an issue with any of it. Regardless of where I’m pressing the shutter button, I’m almost always guaranteed a picture that’s sharp, well-lit, and true-to-life. The ultrawide camera has also performed really well for 0.5x shots. There’s a bit more warping at the edges than I had expected, but it doesn’t distract too much from the photos. If anything, I kind of like the intense, zoomed-out effect it adds.More importantly, photos from the ultrawide camera retain a similar color profile to those taken with the primary camera, so there’s not a distracting difference when comparing images side-by-side. As far as ultrawide cameras go, this is a very good one — just like it was on the Pixel 9 Pro. Even more so than the primary and ultrawide cameras, I’ve been having a blast with the Pixel 10 Pro’s telephoto camera. Although the sensor is unchanged from last year, the zooming capabilities are greatly improved. Now, instead of a 30x maximum zoom, the Pixel 10 Pro can go all the way up to 100x.Starting with 5x and 10x zoom ranges (the two preset zoom options in the camera app), the telephoto sensor does a remarkable job. The 5x and 10x shots below captured the Niagara Falls beautifully, especially considering just how fast they were moving. And when you see how far back I actually was in the 1x shot, it’s all the more impressive how much detail this camera can capture from so far away. Once you punch in to 30x or above, that’s when Google’s Pro Res Zoom mode activates — using AI to fill in the gaps and give you a much better-looking photo. And any time you take a picture that uses Pro Res Zoom, the Pixel 10 Pro saves two copies of the image: the original and the edited one. I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect, but I’ve come away rather impressed by Pro Res Zoom, and the above photo of the butterfly is an excellent example of how well it can work. This was taken at a 50x zoom range, and the original photo is pretty unusable. Pro Res Zoom then comes in to clean up the background, sharpen the pine needles, and reconstruct a lot of the lost detail in the butterfly’s wings — and this all happens automatically and in a matter of seconds. Even going all the way to 100x zoom, the Pixel 10 Pro still holds its own. In this example of the M&T building in Buffalo, Pro Res Zoom does a great job of sharpening the letters and the lines in the building. There’s some funkiness with the metal tower in the upper-right corner, but I was expecting a lot worse for a 100x photo.Is there a conversation to be had about whether or not AI-assisted Pro Res Zoom pictures are still real photographs? Sure. But at least from my perspective, I don’t really care about that conversation. All I care about is having tools that can make my smartphone pictures look better, and Pro Res Zoom absolutely achieves that. I doubt I’ll take a lot of 100x photos after this review is published, but having the flexibility to take usable 30x or 50x pictures is a massive amount of flexibility, and it’s a big win for the Pixel 10 Pro’s camera. Finally, a quick word on the selfie camera. It’s good! Just like on the Pixel 9 Pro, you have two preset ranges (0.7x and 1x) and autofocus. The preview in the viewfinder looks strangely low-quality (much more so than the rear cameras), but once you snap a photo and Google’s processing takes place, the pictures have good colors and detail. No complaints here. The Pixel 10 Pro has a really fantastic camera system.More than anything, what I love about taking pictures with the Pixel 10 Pro is how reliable it is. The primary camera is great, the ultrawide camera is on point, and the telephoto camera adds enormous flexibility. On top of all that, there’s a consistent look and feel across all of these sensors.The Pixel 10 Pro’s color science still favors more natural colors as opposed to lots of contrast, but I think Google struck a good balance this year. I wouldn’t say no to a bit more pop, but I certainly don’t notice my pictures being horribly washed out like we saw with the Pixel 9 Pro. This is a really fantastic camera system, and it’s one I can’t wait to keep shooting with. Google’s Pixel software is still incredible, even with a couple of hiccupsJoe Maring / Android AuthorityJust as cameras are a pillar for Google Pixel phones, the same can be said of software. There are plenty of highs for the Pixel 10 Pro’s software experience, and it’s still one of my favorite reasons to use a Pixel over a competing Android phone. However, that’s mainly due to exisitng Pixel features, rather than any of the new ones added this year.The best new thing about the Pixel 10 Pro’s software is that it ships with Android 16 QPR1. This is the version of Android 16 that’s been redesigned with Material 3 Expressive, and it feels phenomenal on Google’s latest Pixel. The redesigned Quick Settings panel is outstanding, the big buttons/toggles across the interface look great, and animations and haptic feedback have never been better. I’ve been a fan of this software since Android 16 QPR1 Beta 1, and it absolutely shines on the Pixel 10 Pro. The Pixel 10 Pro does introduce some features we didn’t see in those earlier betas, and some of them are really cool. Screen Saver, for example, turns the Pixel 10 Pro into a miniature smart display when it’s charging, and it’s been such a fun new addition. I also love the new Take a Message feature in the Phone app, which shows voicemail transcripts on the Home page and makes managing missed calls so much easier.Unfortunately, I don’t feel nearly as positive about this year’s biggest new Pixel feature: Magic Cue. Magic Cue is supposed to proactively show you information when it thinks you need it. For example, if someone texts you asking if you have the address for dinner tonight, Magic Cue can find that information in your calendar, email, or other text messages and automatically surface it for you. It sounds great on paper, but in practice, it’s been pretty disappointing.Joe Maring / Android AuthorityIn one instance, my partner texted me, “When is our flight on Friday?” Magic Cue quickly suggested sending them our flight time, but the problem is that it pulled our return flight info for the following Monday. Furthermore, all Magic Cue suggested sending was the date and time of the flight — no confirmation number, airport info, or anything of the sort. While calling Delta’s customer support number, Magic Cue once showed flight confirmation details for a flight I had just completed a couple of days previously, despite me having another upcoming flight in November. Daily Hub is accessible at the top of your Google Discover page, and it’s also supposed to show relevant info throughout the day as you need it.
