“Henry Cavill would be furious if I divulged anything about what we’re working on. All I can say is that Warhammer is a fascinating world.”
Flanagan’s involvement with Amazon includes a multi-year deal to produce original series, with his adaptation of Stephen King’s *Carrie* marking the first project. As for the Warhammer series, it will be a part of Henry Cavill’s Warhammer 40,000 Cinematic Universe. While Cavill’s specific role remains undisclosed, Flanagan’s comments have sparked speculation about the show’s direction.
Some fans, including Flanagan himself, believe the series might adapt Dan Abnett’s *Eisenhorn* novels. This choice could offer a more focused narrative compared to other sprawling Warhammer stories. The *Eisenhorn* series, which features the character Gregor Eisenhorn and rare appearances by Space Marines, could serve as a unique entry point into the universe.
“The opportunity to shepherd this cinematic universe from its inception is quite the honour and the responsibility.”
Flanagan’s approach might surprise casual fans expecting Space Marine battles, as an Inquisitor-focused storyline would diverge from typical expectations. The adaptation could appeal to those familiar with the universe through games like *Space Marine 2* or the animated *Secret Level* episode, offering them a fresh perspective.
In December 2022, it was announced that Cavill would not only star in the series but also serve as an executive producer, bringing his extensive knowledge of the lore to the project. Reflecting on the opportunity, Cavill shared, “I have loved Warhammer since I was a boy, making this moment truly special for me.”
The collaboration between Games Workshop, Amazon, and Cavill marks a significant step in bringing the Warhammer 40,000 universe to a broader audience. As fans eagerly await further details, Flanagan’s comments suggest that the series will offer a novel and engaging take on this beloved franchise.
