“We did circle it for a long time, that idea,” Anthony Russo added, suggesting that a movie might be more suitable than a series. “I think that’s a great idea. How about a movie?”
This conversation aligns with previous remarks from Chris Evans, who has been approached with various pitches to rejoin the MCU. Evans has been waiting for a compelling idea that would justify his return, though he hasn’t yet committed to any proposals.
While Marvel typically remains tight-lipped about discarded projects, it’s plausible that a film focused on Steve’s journey was once considered. Currently, however, there are no plans to bring this storyline to life, as the Russos are engaged with “Avengers: Doomsday” and preparing for “Avengers Secret Wars.”
In “Avengers: Doomsday,” viewers will see Steve Rogers’ narrative continue after his stone-returning mission, as his life with Peggy Carter is unexpectedly interrupted by Loki. This scene is part of the extended “Endgame” version now in theaters, with the full story set to unfold when “Avengers: Doomsday” premieres on December 18.
“We felt like it just played past the ending. It seems like much more complicated than a montage could sustain,” Joe Russo explained.
