If you’re on AMD, don’t bother playing the game until AMD releases the new drivers because it doesn’t work.
These problems are consistently linked to AMD Radeon graphics cards. CD Projekt Red has acknowledged the issues and advised players to update their graphics drivers. However, the necessary driver, Adrenalin 26.9.2, had not been available at the time of these reports. The last update, Adrenalin 26.8.1, was released on August 20. For AMD users eager to play The Witcher 3 Remastered, waiting for the updated driver is currently the best course of action.
It remains unclear why CD Projekt Red proceeded with the game’s release without ensuring compatibility with existing AMD drivers. A delay in the Radeon driver might be to blame. I have reached out to both AMD and CD Projekt Red for further comments and will provide updates as they become available.
Despite these temporary setbacks with AMD hardware, The Witcher 3 Remastered offers significant gameplay and visual enhancements, aligning it with the current generation of games. However, players aiming for maximum graphics settings with path tracing will need a very powerful gaming PC.
