Hansen also highlighted a specific scene where Pattinson, playing Hansen, rehearses shirtless in front of a mirror for confrontations with predators, a moment Hansen insists never occurred. He claimed he was not consulted by A24, the studio behind “Primetime,” and previously refused to sign a waiver for a screening, suspecting they wanted him to relinquish his rights.
In response to the film, Hansen is working on several documentaries about his life and career, with “I am Chris Hansen” currently being presented to various platforms. He noted that the timing of his documentary coincides well with the release of “Primetime,” as his team is actively seeking distribution on the West Coast.
Despite Hansen’s criticisms, “Primetime” received a positive review from IGN, which awarded it a nine out of ten, describing it as a vivid and compelling look at Hansen’s past work. Hansen, however, stands by his assessment, viewing the film as an inaccurate portrayal of his efforts to bring justice to those who exploit children.
“In a way, it’s a hit piece on me and the series, which is weird, because all we do is expose bad human beings who try to hurt children.”
