“I’ve never told anybody this, but I once left the entire script for Infinity War on a plane,” Bettany confessed.

Marvel is notorious for its strict script security measures. For instance, on the set of Avengers: Age of Ultron, actors had to shred their script pages daily to prevent any plot details from leaking. Scripts aren’t emailed but are hand-delivered by security personnel. Bettany’s experience is a testament to the potential for slip-ups, even under such tight security.

Emily Hampshire, who works with Bettany on the new Disney+ series VisionQuest, was shocked by his story. Ironically, she too faced a script mishap for VisionQuest, admitting she inadvertently discarded her scenes, prompting a security team visit to her home. “I didn’t know they were precious. I probably threw them out!” she admitted.

Marvel’s actors have a history of accidental spoilers. Elizabeth Olsen, who plays Scarlet Witch, shared a memory of having to burn her daily script pages while filming Age of Ultron to maintain secrecy. Her comment about the cinematic experience of Avengers movies contrasts humorously with Bettany’s plane incident.

“These films aren’t plane movies… they deserve to be seen in a cinema the way it was made,” Olsen once noted.

VisionQuest, featuring Bettany, premieres today, October 13, with the first episodes available for viewing. For more details, including a spoiler-free review, visit the VisionQuest release schedule.
