“The overwhelming majority of fans chose MvC4,”

In addition to the Mortal Kombat poll, Boon posed another intriguing question about future Marvel fighting games. He asked fans whether they preferred a sequel to Marvel Tokon by Arc System Works or Marvel vs. Capcom 4. The latter received overwhelming support, reflecting fans’ continued interest despite the series’ past struggles, particularly with the lukewarm reception of Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite.

The context of Boon’s inquiry is noteworthy, given his background with the Injustice series. Speculation about a new Injustice game has been rampant, fueled by rumors and even resumes from stunt performers listing Injustice 3. Although Boon has denied external testing of Injustice 3, Mortal Kombat 13, and Mortal Kombat 9, he acknowledged fans’ enthusiasm, stating that a lack of external testing doesn’t mean development isn’t happening.

“Just because a game isn’t currently being tested externally doesn’t necessarily mean the game isn’t in development,”

As fans await further announcements from Boon and NetherRealm Studios, there’s additional excitement around a potential crossover between the Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat franchises. The cast of the Street Fighter movie has expressed interest in such a project, and Boon himself indicated a preference for a game crossover over a film.
