“If the overheating issue cannot be resolved, alternatives must be considered to meet the mass production schedule.”

The ongoing problems have prompted Samsung to reconsider using its in-house Exynos 2700 chip. With mass production of the Galaxy S27 series slated to start by the end of the year for a February/March release, a decision is imminent. It remains unclear if Samsung will adopt a split strategy—offering Snapdragon-powered devices in some markets and Exynos in others—or if it will switch entirely to the Exynos chip.

“This would be a massive win for Samsung LSI, the division that designs Exynos.”

Using the Exynos 2700 could bolster Samsung LSI, which hasn’t seen an Exynos-powered Ultra in Korea since 2021 and globally since 2022. This shift could enhance LSI’s reputation and revenue, while reducing costs for Samsung DX, the division responsible for manufacturing the phones, given the high price of premium Snapdragon chips.
